Oh What Do You Do In The Summer Time

We had the best summer. We did something fun almost every weekend. This is a catch up post of everything we did that I didn't already blog about this summer.

Movies in the park.
Our town started these towards the end of the summer on Friday nights. Our kids loved it. You bring your blankets, camp chairs, and snacks and watch a movie under the stars on a giant inflatable screen. They even spray for mosquitos so we didn't have to worry about getting eaten alive. They show a kid movie followed by an adult one. The boys loved to run and dance while waiting for the show to start.

The Canal
Why we had not been to the canal in a long time I have no idea. If you come to visit us in the summer make sure we take you there because it is so pretty and a lot of fun. The canal is the White River that runs through Indianapolis. They have miles of sidewalks along the river where you can walk, run, ride bikes, take the dog, etc. This time we rented a paddle boat for an hour. After that we walked and the kids insisted on stopping at every fountain.

I discoverd the most amazing corn on the cob at the farmer's market this year. The line is a mile long and they often sell out, but it is worth getting up on a Saturday morning for.

We once again spent lots of time swimming at the Monon Center. Colby became the master of the obstacle course and both boys can float on their backs without life jackets. They boys often ask when it opens again.

I'm so grateful to Jordan for being the FUN parent. I would never go sleep in a tent in the backyard on a hot Indiana night, but Jordan did it several times this summer. The boys really roughed it with extension cords to plug in the portable DVD player and a fan!

We did make it real camping with the ward on our annual ward campout in the fall. Colby loved trying out fishing and the boys had a blast running around with all their friends.

We're already making our bucket list for summer 2012. We can't wait!
