One of the many cartoons our boys watch is Cailou. They particularly like an episode where Cailou, an inquisitive little 4 year old boy, learns about April Fools Day. Thanks to Cailou, I think our kids know about all the holidays, even the insignificant ones. Cailou and his parents play little harmless tricks on each other which Colby thinks are hilarious. For several months he had been asking me when April Fools Day is. I did a little research the night before and he and I came up with a few tricks to play on Dad. Colby really wanted to change all the clocks in the house so Jordan would be early to work or church, but since it was conference and we didn't have to go anywhere that Sunday we had to come up with some other ideas. We did the classic rubber band around the sink sprayer so when Jordan turned on the sink he got sprayed. The boys laughed and laughed at that one. The other trick we did was put a few drops of food coloring on his toothbrush so when he brushed his teeth it turned his mouth and teeth green. Later that night, Jordan told Colby to go put on his PJs. When Colby got upstairs all his PJs were missing from his drawer and the mattresses were gone from the bunk bed. Colby called us upstairs and we acted shocked. He was almost to tears so we decided it was a good time to yell April Fools. He told us tonight that he thought hundreds of bad guys stole the mattresses! And then they had to do something to me, so when I went to bed that night I was pillow less and there were stickers on the lenses of my glasses. I love how such small things can make a 3 and 5 year old so happy (ok, I laughed pretty hard too to when Jordan got soaked by the sink sprayer).
