A Trip to the Fair

Last Saturday we went to the Indiana State Fair. Jordan and I had only been once several years ago for a concert and we really didn't see any of the fair. It seems to be a big deal around here and they even extended it an extra 5 days this year because it is so popular, so we thought we would see what it was all about. Colby is at the perfect age to take to things like this becasue he gets excited about everything.

There is a train track that runs from Fishers to the State Fair grounds and when the fair is going on you can ride the train to the fair. It was about a 30 minute trip each way and of course Colby was soooo excited to ride the train. When I told him that morning he started to gather his things and was telling me what he was taking on the airplane. He thought that we were going to NY again (he loved the train/subways in NY). Everyone was laughing at him as we walked from our car to the train station. He was running at full speed yelling choo choo, choo choo.

At the fair we did all the typical things. We started out with the animals. Colby is obsessed with goats and we had to drag him out of the goat barn kicking and sreaming. Goats seem to like him as well. I think his hair must look like straw to them. We took him on several rides, he rode a pony, and did a few other kid activities they had going on. At the end of the day, he was most excited about the free balloon!

Carter rode in the stroller all day and was an angel (and thats a word I rarely use to describe him!). I wanted to try one of the unique fair foods, so I had chocolate cheesecake on a stick. I probably should have been a true Hoosier and gone with the corn on the cob. Jordan was more traditional and had a pork tenderloin.
