We just returned from a wonderful visit with Jordan's family in Utah. We planned the trip a couple of months ago, but didn't tell his parents that we were coming. We had his brothers ensure that they would be around and pick us up form the airport. We went from the airport to Justin and Lisa's house where Grandma and Grandpa had been invited for a BBQ. When they arrived Colby and Boston answered the door. From around the corner I heard, "Who is this little guy? He looks just like Colby." A few seconds later I heard, "That is Colby!" Other than the fact that they thought a Saturday at 11:00 am was an ususual time for a BBQ, they had no idea we were coming. We had a great plane ride out there. I carried Carter's car seat to the gate instead of checking it like we normally do. When we got to the gate I asked if there were any empty seats on the plane and if we could have a seat for Carter so he could sit in the carseat rather than my lap. I don't know why I have never asked for this before. They had upgraded several people to first class which left the entire first row of coach open. We had 5 seats to ourselves along with the extra leg room of the first row. The pilots even let Colby look around the cockpit when we boarded. The stewardeses were also especially nice. We arrived an hour early and our bags were waiting for us when we got to baggage claim. We are new fans of Delta!
We enjoyed dinner at the Mandrin Saturday night followed by a few hours at Kangaroo Zoo, a bounce house in West Bountiful. Colby had never been to one of those before, but it was a huge hit. We'll have to make a visit to one of the ones around here soon. On Sunday we went to Sacrament Meeting with Grandma and Grandpa (sorry Cassi and Anna, no Bednar sightings :-))then onto a park to meet up with one of Jordan's friends. We had dinner that evening with the family at Grandma and Grandpas house where Colby, Boston, and Berkley played for hours. I'm not sure where Colby was getting his energy from at that point, but it was fun to see him play with his cousins who he hasn't seen in a year.
On Monday we went boating with Grandpa. Colby absolutely loved tubing with Daddy and Jordan proved he still has his waterskiing and wakeboarding skills. That evening we got together again with all the family for dinner. On Tuesday we packed up and headed to lunch with Cassi, my roommate in college, before heading off to the airport to go home. We didn't get a seat for Carter on the way home, but there were empty seats (not as helpful gate attendants in SLC), so he and I headed to the very back of the plane so we had some room to spread out. We were tired when we got home from traveling, never fully adjusting to time changes, and craming a lot of visiting and fun into a short trip, but we had a wonderful time. Colby asks at least twice a day where Grandma and Grandpa are. He'll be excited to see them again in October at our house.
