If there is one thing we have learned about Colby in the last few months, it is that you can't tell him about an exciting upcoming event too early. He is now old enough to remember, but still not old enough to have any concept of time. His only concepts of time are "once Daddy is home", or "when you wake up". So, telling him about his birthday about 2 weeks prior was a big mistake. He decided he wanted a dinosaur cake and talked about this cake and practiced singing happy birthday several times a day for 2 weeks. About a week before his birthday the presents from Grandma and Grandpa arrived which started even more birthday talk and begging to open them. And, just becasue cake and presents aren't exciting enough at his age, we decided to throw him a party at a bounce place. He invited his 3 friends from his playgroup, 2 Landons and Austin, his girlfriend from church, Chloe, and Collin (the son of his former babysitter). The party was on Friday afternoon from 4:30 to 6:00. We did cake and ice cream first and then turned them loose in the bounce area. A few of the parents stayed which turned out to be helpful because it was much harder to keep an eye on 6 two and three year olds in that place than I had imagined. Colby and one of his friends escaped at one point. I found them across the hallway in the party room eating suckers they had stolen from the favor bags. After the party we came home and opened the presents he got from his Grandparents and Jordan and I. He made out extremely well and it felt more like Christmas than a birhday. Were we this spoiled when we were three? We don't think so! Thanks to Liz, Grammy and Grandpa, and Papa Mama for the wonderful gifts.

Very impressed with the dinosaur cake. Would you like to host my next birthday party?
