Favorite Summer Hangout

Today was our official last day to go swimming at the Monon. We spent nearly every Friday here during the summer and a few evenings when Daddy was away at school. It gets the number 1 spot as our favorite hangout place of the summer. See you next year!

These floaties I bought for the last part of the season were a life saver. Carter has no fear of the water and would be playing in the pool, fall or jump forward, and if the water was too deep, he would be stuck face down in the pool. I can't even tell you how many times I pulled him out. A lifeguard even pulled him out once. His other brilliant move was do get on his tummy and do the alligator crawl into the deeper water until his face was under and he couldn't get back up. He can obviously hold his breath well becasue he never comes up coughing or crying. He hated the floaties at first, but once he learned that they meant freedom to swim by himself, he accepted them.
Snack time is always a must when we go swimming!
Colby learned to float on his back the last few times we went swimming. This was a big step since this is the one thing he wouldn't do in his swimming lessons. He also became confident in "going under", which really just means holding his face under for a few seconds.
