Kings Island

We had planned to go to King's Island on Saturday, April 30th, but the night before Colby got sick and we had to cancel. He was bummed and we promised him we would go the next Saturday. That meant we heard about King's Island ALL day, EVERY day for the entire week. He became very familiar with the web site and knew every ride that he was tall enough to go on before we even got there. Carter even knew about the rides. He was particularly excited for the "bumping cars" as he calls them. We left early Saturday morning so we could get there right when it opened. The drive was shorter than we anticipated and we there about a half hour early.

First ride of the day!

Carter was too small to ride this one. He is as fearless as Colby when it comes to rides and was always mad when he couldn't go on the big kid ones.

I think the boys rode this one three times in a row. The great thing about going early in the season is that it wasn't hot and there were no lines. If the kids wanted to ride again, most of the time they could just stay on.

Every boy loves planes, trains, and automobiles...

Carter was excited to go on these bumper cars before we even got to the park. However, once he got on he couldn't get it to move and kept yelling that it was broken and not working. The ride didn't last very long and he never moved the entire ride. Once it was over he refused to get out since he didn't get a real ride. The ride operator couldn't get him out, so I had to go in and pry him out of the car kicking and screaming. Colby didn't do too well either so we crosssed this one off the list to ride again.

These cars were Carter's real favorite ride. He rode them over and over while Colby went on the big kid rides, and then rode it a few more times with Colby once he got back.

The characters were out all day and Colby told us he likes to just look at them. He did agree at one point in the day to give Snoopy five.

We all rode this one and then Colby wanted to go again. Carter and I sat out the next ride and took pictures.

I brought him a rain coat but he refused to wear it. He loved getting wet!

We got a little bit of rain off and on later in the day, but not enough to destroy the fun.

As Jordan says, Colby has great form on roller coasters. He puts his hands up and screams.

He's in the fourth car back. He rode several times trying to get a seat all to himself.

This was Colby's favorite ride. I don't have a picture of him on it, but it was a lot of fun. It was one that Carter was too small to ride, but Jordan and I both went on it with him.
We finally made it out of the kid's area and went on every ride that Colby was big enough to go on. He was disappointed that he couldn't go on the big roller coasters and rides. He has no fear! Carter was asleep in the stroller so he missed out. Jordan and I switched off going on these rides.

This is the big boat ride that rocks back and forth. He rode it once with Jordan then once with me. He held up his hands and fake screamed the entire time!

Colby chose the log ride as the last ride of the day, so we were all wet and soggy on the drive home.
The kids are already planning thier next trip. They want to go to the water park and to the new dinosaur exhibit. Colby was very disappointed that the dinosaur exhibit doesn't open for a few more weeks. We've pormised another trip later in the summer.

I remember going there during our Indiana Family Reunion (1984?) with Grandpa, Inez, and everybody. Looks like it's still a lot of fun!
