Carter turned 4 years old last week! We spent the week celebrating his actual birthday on Tuesday followed by his party on Saturday. The plan was for him to take cake pops to school on Tuesday, but school was cancelled due to subzero temps (Colby had a 2 hour delay which means morning preschool is cancelled), so he and I mostly hung out at home and saved the cake pops for Thursday. I never got a picture, but they were pirates and turned out really cute. That evening we opened his presents from family and had cake and ice cream.
His party, the part he was really looking forward to, was on Saturday. The theme was Angry Birds (which was more Colby's idea that his). I talked him into just doing cake pops instead of a cake. In our experience, kids never really eat the cake. They devored the cake pops! The idea was to set it up on the table like an angry birds scence. The pigs on their fortress and the birds ready to launch into them. It was a little hard to capture in photos, but it turned out pretty cute. The upside down red birds on the table are the birds that didn't quite make it to the fortress. If you've never played Angry Birds none of this will make sense to you!
We made the Angry Bird balloons for decoration and for the kids to take home. Jordan gets the credit for cutting out all the pieces!
We played pin the tail on the bird and also had an Angry Bird egg hunt.
We got some styrofoam blocks for the kids to stack up, place the little pigs on top, and then try to knock it all over by throwing a ball at it. It was an Angry Bird version of bowling. The boys loved it!
Everyone eating lunch. Going clockwise starting with the blond in the polka dots shirt and red vest: Mia, Parker, Gavin, Carter, Porter, Perry, Devin, and Claire. On a cute side note, Claire tells her Mom that Carter is going to be her boyfriend when they are older!
