Promotion and New Callings

Jordan has had an exciting couple of weeks. Two weeks ago he was asked to meet with a member of the Stake Presidency and was called to be the Executive Secretary in the ward. The next day he went to work and received a promotion. Big changes in a 24 hour period!

We'll start with the good news of the promotion. Jordan had applied for a position within his department that opened up, but didn't think he had a chance at getting it since he had considerably less experience and qualifications than the past people who had the position. He was surprised when he was notified that he had been chosen to fill the position. The really good news is that he really won't be doing anything different; he will just have a little more accountablility for his work. You can't beat better pay for the same job! He enjoys the department he works in and the people he works with. He has been pretty busy, but still doesn't have the overtime that he has had in the past in other departments.

I won't call it bad news, but I don't know if the new calling is really good news either. We'll just call it news. We don't know a whole lot about what an Executive Secretary does...yet..., but we do know it means a lot of meetings, which means time away from home. He will have meetings starting early on Sunday mornings and Thursday nights. For the first time, he is going to have to actually carry around his cell phone! Today was his last day to teach his primary class and he will really miss primary. He loved teaching the kids. All of this is really only a big deal because he is also in MBA school and is gone to class Monday nights and has to study after work and on the weekends. We know some how it will all work out and I appreciate his willingness to serve in the church and the hard work he does to support our family.
