Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was both a relaxing and fun filled day. We started off with everyone, including Jordan, going to Strollerfit. We are in the middle of a "Fitness Takes No Holiday" challenge which meant there was class on Christmas Eve and the Dads were invited. I begged Jordan to go so I could get my extra points for the challenge. He reluctantly agreed, but was much more comfortable once he saw there were several other guys there. We even won the relay race of the day!

Once we were home, showered, and ready for the day, Jordan and the boys watched Rudolph online because we had missed it on TV this year. Carter and Jordan fell asleep during the movie and while they slept Colby and I made cookies for Santa.

Next, we were off to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. My family has a hit and miss tradition of going to Chinese on Christmas Eve, so we copied the idea and went too. Really, we have not made any Christmas traditions of our own since we are typically with our families, so I wanted to try some out this year and we will see what sticks. After Chinese we came home and the boys frosted and decorated the sugar cookies we had made earlier in the day for Santa. We also set out carrots for the reindeer and milk for Santa. When I put the glass of milk on the table Colby said, " Mom, it doesn't have chocolate in it". For those who don't know, Colby has NEVER liked regular milk. To get him to drink it once he turned 1 I had to put Nesquik in it. I had the plan to add less and less to wean him from it, but it's just never happened. I told Colby that Santa likes plain milk. "Can I try plain milk?" Colby said. "Sure" I told him, and poured a decent size glass. He drank it all in one big gulp without stopping then said, "I like plain milk!" I sighed and laughed at the same time. It took us over 3 years to get him to drink plain milk. I'm sure he will be back to his old ways soon once the Santa excitement fades, but I'll keep it going as long as possible.

Up next? The opening of the ONE Christmas Eve present...pajamas. They were actually thrilled with the PJ's. They put them right on, we snapped a few photos, read the Christmas story, and then they were off to bed. All of this before 8pm. I thought for sure it would be a late night and we wouldn't get them to sleep with all the excitement. It was a good thing too, because Santa had a lot of wrapping to do. He was done and presents were under the tree by 10 pm
