Trip to the Zoo

This was our second annual Spring Break trip to the zoo and Mason's first trip ever. Jordan took off work and joined us this year. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great. It started off raining, then turned cold and windy, so we kind of rushed through most of it. The favorite this year were the birds. Because the weather was bad, we practically had the place to ourselves and the birds weren't shy at all. We visited this exhibit twice. Another favorite is always the touch-a-shark exhibit. Again, because of low crowds, the kids were able to "pet" the sharks very easily.

The dolphin show is always a must see. The last few times we have been the dolphins have been a little naughty and not performed very well. This time, however, they were great. The show is nothing like Sea World, but it's still fun to see them jump, splash, wave and "talk". Carter and Jordan sat in the splash zone, but didn't get wet. Carter was a little disappointed.

Several years ago this area in the zoo was farm animals with a little petting zoo. I thought I preferred the farm exhibit until this visit. These birds were so fun! The bigger colorful ones are Lorikeets. I forget what kind the little birds were.

And then there were lions and tigers and bears and such!
